A nursing home employee by the name of Adam Wheeler, who was employed at Welch Community Hospital in West Virginia, also known as the Golden Harvest Nursing Home, was arrested recently on charges that include nursing home abuse and nursing home neglect.

The official charges he was arrested for include but are not limited to: three counts of abuse and neglect of incapacitated adults causing bodily injury, one count of abuse and neglect of incapacitated adults causing serious bodily injury and four counts of crimes against the elderly.

Wheeler, who was a certified nurses assistant, was recently suspended after allegations and suspicions that he had been physically abusing patients. These suspicions are what prompted the investigation to be opened by the West Virginia State Police. Wheeler was officially in charge of caring for 5 patients, whose ages ranged from 52 to 92, however, the investigation is leading the police to suspect that there may have been more victims within the care facility. Families and patients who may know more about Wheeler’s crimes are encouraged to contact Trooper Jarod Tupper at 304-436-2101.
